Senior Bridge Engineer
A senior bridge engineer is required in our busy bridges and structures design team in Swindon. The team is involved in a wide range of projects associated with bridges and highway structures including detailed design and scheme preparation, as well as assessment and site inspection works. You will be part of a team and training will be given on the job and through courses.
Engineers wishing to work toward ICE Chartered status will be given the opportunity under our accredited training scheme.
Responsibilities
* Undertaking design of bridge and structural design projects
* Organising and undertaking site inspections as necessary
* Ensuring compliance to appropriate design and health & safety standards as required
* Dealing with clients, internal and external project managers
* You will be engaged either as an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team working on large projects, or independently, managing small / medium sized projects
Requirements
* Ideally, the candidate will be approaching or have recently achieved chartered status (Civil or Structural) with extensive bridge experience.
* Able to work under own initiative to achieve targets and meet deadlines.
* Practical experience of the inspection of all types of bridge structures.
* Recent experience of rail bridge design or assessment is essential.
* Experience of Design & Construct either as part of designer or contractor teams an advantage
Computer literate (MS Office, structural analysis software)
* Potential to take on a management role in supervising less experienced team members.
* Working knowledge of analysis programs STRAP, SuperSTRESS and LUSAS
