Business Analyst up to GBP33 ltd
Key Purpose:
To work in a commercial role and with a high degree of autonomy with the business managers to assist in identifying and appraising new opportunities, challenging the direction of the business, be an active part of the decision making process, and provide in depth analysis of the performance of the existing business. In addition the Business Analyst will ensure the timely and accurate provision of management information to all relevant business users and provide financial support with an appreciation of the wider business issues.
Success Criteria:
* Management accounts and quarterly forecast processes reviewed and efficiencies/improvements identified and put into place
* Revamp management reporting to focus on key business drivers
* Business models to be accurate, detailed with all assumptions well interrogated and rationalised to support operational decision making
* Co-ordinate macro level market forecasts and competitive benchmarking to ensure that the business is understood in the wider market context
* Timely and accurate management accounts, KPIs and supporting commentaries
* Accurate and up-to-date budget and forecast information
Accountabilities:
Decision Support
o Provide support and analysis to the business managers for strategic and operational business decisions
o Advise on competitor activity and market trends
o Model the financial and non-financial outcomes of alternative scenarios and advise their business accordingly
o Represent finance at regular business management meetings with a view to educating the business management team and increasing financial awareness
o Provide a fast, informed and independent appraisal to management of any major project to be undertaken by the business
o Respond promptly to queries from business representatives and external parties
o Promote cross-business learning by working with Business Analysts from other businesses
o Ensure compliance with policies and procedures, and also statutory, tax, and financial policies and procedures

Financial Management
o Deliver timely and accurate management accounts and commentaries on a monthly basis
o Continuously monitor, develop and interpret appropriate and timely KPIs for the business
o Effectively monitor, interpret and challenge financial results and communicate issues, risks, opportunities and trends, and performance outlook to the management team on a timely basis
o Report on, and ensure integrity and completeness of, management information contained in the financial systems, including controllable balance sheet items
o Work with the Shared Service Centre and local business to deliver process improvements
o Assist business managers in preparation and delivery of timely budgets and forecasts
o Promote ownership of budgets to the business managers
o Assist in target setting and bonus / commission structures
o Develop and improve local business control environment as appropriate
o Manage and control non-standard transactions, and agree appropriate accounting procedures either locally or with the SSC
