Managing Quantity Surveyor

One of the South East's leading developers offers an exciting opportunity to an experienced Managing Surveyor to become fundamental to a core regional operation.

The role would involve managing the surveying team and ensuring the projects are running to budget and the commercial and contractual risks are closed out. The Managing Surveyor would be expected to attend meetings on my behalf of the Commercial Director when necessary. This would include contract negotiations, pre-start meetings and other procurement related meetings / responsibilities. There would also be a need to get involved in problematic contractor accounts where variations are in dispute and / or claims have been raised.

The position is based at the regional office in Sevenoaks, but will involve meetings and with external parties and visits to site as and when required, Site are in London..

Candidate could come from either a development or a contracting background. The role could suit an experienced managing surveyor / commercial manager OR a Senior QS looking to make the step into a management role. The Managing Surveyor reports into the Commercial Director. Applicants do not need to have residential experience but will need to understand the key factors that drive this side of the industry.
Applicants must be strong team players and able to effectively manage a team. The ability to work to clear but tight deadlines and to be flexible to adopt a new approach to find / obtain the right ultimate goal is essential.

Projects are typically flagship London developments in landmark locations and are often technically challenging with ornate designs, including listed refurbishments and multi storey builds.
