ASSISTANT FEES CLERK - LEADING CHAMBERS SET - TO £28K
Our client is an award winning common law barristers chambers, based close to Chancery Lane. They have an urgent requirement for an assistant fees clerk to join their team. Experience of civil legal aid billing, family graduated fees and an understanding of family case management is essntial. You may also have exposure to the Solicitors Accounts Rules. The role will involve graduated fee billing, including:
- identifying and locating cases suitable for interim billing;
- chasing instructing solicitors for public funding certificates;
- ensuring that claims are in good order prior to billing;
- photocopying claim forms and printing/amending fee notes;
- chasing Legal Services Commission after submission of claims for outstanding payments; and
- informing solicitors of payments made by Legal Services Commission.
as well as:
- paying off incoming cheques, general correspondence with the Legal Services Commission, producing monthly/annual reports.
You will have an eye for detail and an analytical approach to your work. You will have experience in a similar legal environment preferably with experience of Meridien Law or a similar system and work efficiently to agreed deadlines.
The ideal person for this role will be a strong team player, robust, have a good sense of humour, stay calm in pressurised times,have the ability to prioritise and manage their own workload and have an excellent telephone manner.
