Art & Design Teacher

Talented Art and Design Teacher is required to teach pupils from Years 7 - 12 in an over-subscribed, very successful 11-18 school catering for students of all abilities.

The role is permanent and officially starts in January but if the successful candidate is available there will be a settling in period this side of Christmas.

This school is one of twenty Leading Edge Schools in London. This means that the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) believes that the quality of teaching and examination results achieved by students at the school is so good that other schools can benefit from sharing their good practice.

The school has been awarded Specialist Status as a Technology College by the DfES from September 2001. This means that the school has been able to invest in significantly improved facilities. The school was ranked in the top 50 specialist schools out of nearly 1,000 in terms of the progress made by its pupils in the last three years.

In 2006 the school became a DfES Training School in recognition of the school's high achievement. This means that teachers at the school will receive the very highest standard of training and development.

The school has won three "Excellence Awards" from the Government for achieving very high examination results. The sixth form is large and successful and the majority of students progress to University each year.

The school prides itself as being a safe and caring school, which provides a happy and harmonious environment for learning. The recent Ofsted inspection said: "This is a very good school which provides a very effective education for its students. The ethos of the school promotes a strong learning culture in which students are valued for who they are and what they contribute to the school's collective identity. Harmonious relationships are a most marked feature of the school. Very good teaching promotes very good learning and results in students achieving very well.
