Energy/Physical Commodity Trade Support


The Company

Robert Half Financial Services Group are looking for a Energy/Physical Commodity Trade Support Clerk. Currently engaged in the trading of physical power, physical gas and emissions across Europe. The position sits within the risk function where position, confirmation checks and core risk processes (Daily P+L/VaR/Credit Margining) take place. The organisation is naturally growing in all areas of trading activity with corresponding requirements within the support areas.

The Role

Responsibilities Primary responsibilities will be for the daily production and presentation of the Position, P+L and VaR figures to traders, internal management and head office. Production, analysis and presentation of the daily trading position to the desk in order for them to trade effectively throughout the day. Production of these reports is essential for the companys position management to support the trading desks Secondary responsibilities will be to provide cover within the small risk team to support the confirmation and credit functions during leave and absenteeism Any other ad-hoc responsibilities that management deem suitable in order to manage the companies risk and operation controls Experience Required Successful candidates will be educated to degree level with exposure to a Daily P+L analysis function within an energy trading organisation with an understanding of Mark to market accounting Excel to a minimum intermediate and ideally advanced level Understanding of the standard energy products and derivatives Aware of operational risks and how to mitigate them Ability to work under pressure and to strict timelines Close attention to detail Ideally candidates will also have exposure to Credit and margining and exposure to VaR Core Competencies Adaptability/ managing change: Ability to embrace new technologies, meet emerging market demands, respond effectively to changing conditions, apply continuous improvement techniques and create new business opportunities Leadership: Ability to achieve desired results by encouraging and supporting the contributions of others possession of required knowledge, skills and experience, skills and experience to work effectively with others throughout the organisation Teamwork: Knowledge, skills and ability to work effectively with others to achieve optimal collective results Communication: Ability to speak and write clearly and succinctly in a variety of settings and styles; ability to secure information, listen effectively and get messages across that have the desired effect Global Cultural Sensitivity: Ability to work successfully in any community by effectively handling cultural, political and economic differences Initiative: Think critically and act logically to evaluate situations and generates required steps to ensure success Total Business Understanding: Knowledge and expertise in formulating competitive strategies and managing policies, practices, trends and information affecting the total business
