Mining Technical Advisor
Position / Overall purpose of job
Principally supporting the global mining business. This role requires an individual with a very strong technical background in the international mining industry. The candidate will be responsible for providing technical / financial advice and recommendations on lending, equity and M&A mining related transactions. Ideally, the incumbent will also have a good understanding of the credit and documentation issues relating to mining finance business
Responsibilities / Accountabilities
? Technical / financial analysis of a portfolio of clients
? Mining project evaluations involving technical assessments, site visits, scoping studies
etc.
? Selection and hiring of appropriate Independent Engineers (?IE?) to work as
consultants to the bank. Direction and monitoring of the IE's work efforts.
? Provision of verbal and written conclusions and recommendations.
? Management and monitoring of the relationship of the portfolio of clients, including
completion of annual reviews, due diligence audits, security and other documentation
and ensuring that a proper visiting schedule is maintained for all clients.
? Liaison with the other technical advisors in the respective global offices.
? Maintenance the bank's database of client and industry information to support
effective portfolio management.
? Supporting direct reports in their own technical and relationship management efforts,
by assisting with technical / financial analyses, credit analysis, documentation, etc as
required.
? Ongoing monitoring of the existing portfolio, using a variety of media as well as
ongoing direct contact with clients. Ensuring that the required technical / financial
information is delivered on time.
Experience/Qualifications
? Must have proven track record in the mining industry from across the international
spectrum, including considerable experience in mining operations and mining
consultancy / engineering.
? Must be highly numerate, and possess a mining industry related degree
? Must have extensive experience in technical / financial due diligence audits and
reviews, resource and reserve estimation, financial modelling, risk analysis.
? Experience in dealing directly with corporate clients.
? Good understanding of investment banking / project finance tools and
processes and an appreciation of the sensitive issues associated with the business of
mining finance, mine development and mining M&A activities. Previous experience
within a bank / finance institution would be highly regarded.
? Strong interpersonal skills and client focus are vital, as well as attention to detail and
the ability to work under pressure.
? Experience of working in a professional services environment, including exposure to
high profile transactions.

Salary: £80k +
