DEFINING THE ROLE:
1. As VP: Technology Application Development you will spearhead system architecture, design and integration of all bank systems for the largest Investment Banks in Gulf region based in Bahrain. Play pivotal role in identification, mentoring and implementation of best practices and interface with Business Unit stakeholders internally across Geographies.
2. The individual in this position must have excellent communication and organizational skills. You should have 18 - 20 years experience. You will be heavily relied upon and must be able to make quick and accurate decisions. You must be able to juggle many tasks simultaneously and still be available to handle new incoming problems that arise unexpectedly.
WHY ARE YOU IMPORTANT?
1. My mandate is to hire the incumbent who will be responsible for taking challenge of optimizing and automating the backbone of an Investment Bank in Bahrain. Evaluating technical bottlenecks and designing solution is a key task. Another key challenge is migration from a legacy to an enterprise platform.
2. Established in 1975 in the Kingdom of Bahrain, my client is the largest Investment banking firm in the Middle East. It has focused primarily on Middle East states offering a range of specialized financial services, which include both traditional and Islamic financial solutions. The portfolio incorporates financial advisory services in connection with mergers, disposals and acquisitions; privatizations; strategic advice; project finance, equity placements (IPOs and private placements); and project and structured finance. Typically, Investment Banking services incorporate due diligence, valuation and structuring, as well as placement advice and implementation.
3. Your expertise is required to designing and evaluates technical solutions to business problems involving distributed computing systems, web development and data management for Investment banking.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS HOW YOU WILL APPLY THEM IN THE JOB?
1. Communication is essential. Thought strategy has to be clearly communicated to stakeholders within the company (peers and senior stakeholders). Continuing on this point, its essential also that you should have proven people collaborative skills. Another important attribute is strong PL discipline.
2. As mentioned earlier, your role would be enterprise integration for an Investment banking setup. You will also be architecting and spearheading modular integration of new I-banking packages with backend banking information systems, by making use of middleware technologies.
3. Architecting secure reliable exchange of messages between banks and other financial institutions by SWIFT. Regional deployment of application modules for FX, Money Market, Securities, Investments, Derivatives, Commercial Lending, Trade Finance Support products.
4. A sound technical knowledge in OOAD and integration methodology like SOA / Enterprise Service bus / Business integration is essential. Hands-on experience in Crystal Reports / Business Objects is desirable. This bank has a hybrid setup, with Windows, AS400, and UNIX OS. Therefore you should be familiar with Legacy as well as the Windows / UNIX OS. Awareness of Web Services, Power Builder, Crystal Reports / Enterprise, Oracle Developer, Oracle Discoverer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, RPG 400 Sybase, DB2, MS SQL Server OS/400 on AS/400 is desirable.
5. Exposure to Credit Risk, Market Risk, and Operational Risk is essential. Awareness of Compliance / Anti-Money Laundering, Regulatory reporting is required.
6. Experience in Investment banking setup (for last 7+ years) and knowledge of I-banking / finance application are essential. Integration would be your core role, but this role is more about preemptively solving technology bottlenecks faced by an Investment bank. You need have a grasp of problems faced by an I-bank; perhaps think like an I-banker and act like a tech evangelist!

3. The compensation associated with this role has a median compensation of USD 200,000 apart from various amenities. Please note that this is a tax-free amount. In terms of market compensation, my client falls above the 99-percentile grid.
